CARL & ELLIE

~simply because LOVE is eternal~

CARL and ELLIE's love story from the movie UP is a two-thumbs up for me.

it is just a kiddie movie yet very informative for the elders. i watched it for the 2nd time last night and i could still remember when i watched it in cinema few months ago. behind me are kids and their mother, 2 girls and a boy, their ages may range from 9, 7 and 5. the boy is the youngest among them and was so talkative. he liked RUSSELL very much because he even say "run RUSSELL run!" and he was so focused on the film and keeps on asking his mom about the movie.

before how the kid enjoyed the movie, the guardians will be touched on how the movie began. ELLIE and CARL were the main characters. CARL met the bubbly hyper young ELLIE in an abandoned house playing alone, pretending to be a pilot and enjoys the company of her dreams. They became friends since that day when ELLIE saw CARL and scared him and told said he's an intruder. everything for ELLIE is just nothing but THE PARADISE FALLS. ELLIE shared her ultimate dreams to CARL and showed him her "MY ADVENTURE BOOK", actually it's just an empty scrapbook where ELLIE said she'll put all her adventures on it when she'll reach the PARADISE FALLS. she even had a picture of the falls and draw a house near the falls where she wants to live and boasted it to CARL, when CARL asked her if where did she get that picture, she answered him without haste "actually i tore it from the library".

their friendship evolved into deeper feelings and they became lovers, they got married and procured the house where they first met. they renovated it and they made it their home. but they were saddened when they were not able to have a child, but they know that life still has continue between the both of them and realized they missed something. THE PARADISE FALLS, they tried to earn for their travel to SOUTH AMERICA but their savings were good only for some uncontrollable situations. they were too old when CARL was able to purchase a ticket for two to PARADISE FALLS, he wanted to surprise ELLIE but she's is too weak, needs to be hospitalized, and soon left CARL alone.

during the movie, CARL lived alone as an OLD MAN, who has the purpose of living just for ELLIE's dreams. He cared very much for ELLIE. He's trapped into her presence and does not want ELLIE's memories to be out of his way.

CARL became so selfish, he could sacrifice and show no care for other people and things and even for himself. that's how he loved ELLIE. Her death doesn't mean that his love was being buried too. Many were touched when they saw on the last part of the movie, where he already fulfilled to place their house of the top of the PARADISE FALLS just how ELLIE wanted it to be, he saw ELLIE's scrap book of adventures. he's being on ELLIE's childish dream of going to PARADISE FALLS and thought that being there is the only dream that she wanted to come true, and thought that he was able to fulfill it for her upon his transfer to the PARADISE FALLS. but he was wrong when he saw that on some of the pages of the book there posted were their pictures together and that she even made captions on it and thanked CARL for being his adventure. all those time, CARL thought that ELLIE was so empty with her unfulfilled dreams, but he was wrong when he found out that HE was ELLIE's adventure and that her childish dreams will just remain dreams and it's just a bonus for her that CARL made it up to PARADISE FALLS. when CARL realized that, he went to RUSSELL and saved them from the bad mad scientist.

and just like every fairy tale, it ended happily ever after.

sometime we have to wake up into realizations that we should love the person the way they want to be loved their way not the way we wanted it to be. from the movie UP CARL is so in love with ELLIE. he didn't even realized that he was ELLIE's everything and wished nothing for more but being with him. for ELLIE, she was satisfied and was thankful that he came into her life and had shared so many things together. despite of having no child, they always find a way to be as sweet as new lovers and showed care for both. their love story was so great that even ELLIE is dead, CARL didn't forget her. her childish dreams even came to reality through CARL's effort.

the memory of our loved ones will only remain in our hearts and not on the tangible things that are connected to them. all things on earth will be gone but the love that is shared by you and your loved one will remain in your heart until the end of everything. why? simply because LOVE is eternal.
